HISTORY......
In 1997 I had a skiing accident that resulted in the loss of my left leg below the knee. I started skiing again about 2 years later on a University trip. I ski on a prosthetic leg made specifically for skiing. This has enabled me to carry on with the sport that I love. I started ski racing at University, which is when I fell in love with competitive skiing. Whilst at University I also started to do some race training with the British Disabled Ski Team and it was then that I decided that I really wanted to give racing my best endeavors.
Subsequently in 2003 I decided to go to Winter Park, Colorado, USA. Here is a world renowned - The National Sports Center for the Disabled http://www.nscd.org/
NOW.........
I am just about to start my fifth ski season in Winter Park. Over the last four years my results have improved significantly and hence I am on the British Disabled Skiing A Race Team - the only female member. This has allowed me to compete in World Cup races representing Great Britain at a higher international level.
In March 2006 I competed in the Winter Paralympic Games. This has been a dream for me since I started racing - my ultimated goal to represent Great Britain at the highest possible level has come true!
MY DREAM.......
I believe that considerable further improvement is possible and therefore I am determined to carry on ski racing until the 2010 Winter Paralympics. Training is costly. Fitness and technique are paramount and hence I wish to continue training at Winter Park.
